Janet M. Nesse has joined McNamee Hosea as Principal in the firm’s Greenbelt office. Janet brings to the firm over 30 years of representation in Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights, restructuring and creditor workout and resolution. Ms. Nesse currently serves as Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 trustee in numerous bankruptcy matters primarily in the District of Maryland. She also represents secured and unsecured creditors, pursuing claims in the bankruptcy and workout context. Her practice includes representations of debtors as well, both in bankruptcy matters and in guiding companies experiencing financial challenges through the workout process.

Janet is particularly known for resolution of matters that require a creative approach in maximizing the recovery for clients. This includes purchases of claims, hostile takeovers in the bankruptcy context and pursuit of creditor plans as well as the usual panoply of strategies in the bankruptcy context. Janet also works on matters involving government contractors, including companies owned by minority and disadvantaged individuals. Her work is not limited to bankruptcy matters, but also encompasses contract litigation and other business matters that arise.
Nesse received her B.A. from Yale University and her law degree from College of William and Mary. She is a member of the Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia bars as well as other federal and bankruptcy courts. She has taught various legal education courses for organizations including the American Bar Association, George Washington Law Center, and the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association.
