McNamee Hosea announced today that Stanley Samorajczyk has joined the firm as Senior Counsel in the firm’s Annapolis office specializing in financial restructuring and corporate reorganization work. For more than 15 years Samorajczyk was Manager of Akin Gump’s Financial Restructuring Practice in Washington D.C. He served for the past three years as the Independent Trustee of the Van Metre Family Trust which holds interests in more than 180 highly successful entities, with assets valued at approximately $850 million, engaged in residential and commercial construction and development, construction supply, financial services, and related businesses.

Samorajczyk has represented clients in complex national and cross-border restructuring, bankruptcy, insolvency and creditors’ rights cases. Among his recent cases, he has represented a major insurance company in connection with its exposure in asbestos bankruptcy cases, a senior secured lender with more than $1 billion in loans to a group of utility companies in Chapter 11, a major international telecommunications company in connection with troubled U.S. telcom entities, major creditors in pending telecommunications and technology company cases, and an unofficial committee of worldwide companies pursuing extensive claims against a sovereign nation.

Samorajczyk received his A.B. from Georgetown and his law degree from Catholic University. He is a member of the D.C. and Virginia bars as well as other federal and bankruptcy courts. He has lectured nationally and internationally on business bankruptcy, restructuring and reorganization and is a Fellow and a former member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Bankruptcy, a co-founder of the Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice and a member of the Board of Visitors of the Columbus School of Law.
