McNamee Hosea Teal Appeal returned to participate in their second National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Central (NOCC) Maryland Chapter’s 5K Run/3K Walk to “Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer” on September 29, 2013. The firm came together as a whole in efforts to help raise awareness and promote education about ovarian cancer. The NOCC is also committed to improving the survival rate and quality of life for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
The Teal Appeal team was able to raise $7,385.00 with the help of McNamee Hosea who matched all of their employees’ contributions. This year, the Teal Appeal team was comprised of over 40 members who participated in the event at the Westfield Mall in Annapolis. In addition to the team members who showed there support at the event by running or walking, the firm had a number of generous individuals who contributed to the fundraising efforts. McNamee Hosea would also like to thank our sponsors, DARCARS, Old Line Bank, Watkins Meegan, LLC, South River Restoration, and the Prince George’s County Child Resource Center who supported the team for this wonderful event and cause.
The event was a huge success and “McNamee Hosea Teal Appeal” ranked 2nd out of over 100 teams for the contributions made to the NOCC. Attorneys, staff, friends and family came together to run/walk in support of all those whose lives have been affected by ovarian cancer.
A few special highlights of the event included a special thank you from the NOCC during the closing ceremonies. Congratulations to Amanda Schweitzer (14) and Emily Schweitzer (12), daughters of Partner Mark Schweitzer, in winning their respectable age divisions. Kevin Streete, husband to Partner Esther Streete, completed the race in 22:59, he was the 16th person overall out of nearly 295 runners.
This was a very special day for a great cause and McNamee Hosea is honored to be able to be a part, not only to give back to the community but to show our support for all of those who lost their battle and praise those fighting and congratulate those who have won.
